Sustainability Statement
At Sea Green Designs we are committed to sustainability and the responsible use of the planet’s resources. We first became a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council in 2020. We recognize the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) as an important tool to promote responsible forest management. We have a preference for manufacturers who use FSC-certified wood in manufacturing as well as reclaimed and recycled resources.
We are committed to avoiding wood from unacceptable sources, including:
- Illegally harvested or traded timber;
- Timber harvested in violation of traditional or civil rights;
- Timber harvested from areas in which high conservation values are threatened by poor forest management
- Timber harvested from areas being converted from forests to plantations or non-forest use
- Timber from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted
Where applicable all wood products on this website are denoted with their certification(s) and composition. Additionally, guests can look for the image below to discern whether a product falls into the aforementioned categories:
Currently, more than 50% of our wood furniture inventory consists of FSC and SFI certified woods, and reclaimed or recycled woods. By 2025 we hope to quantitatively increase this number and ensure at least 75% of our wood furniture inventory will be FSC certified, and reclaimed or recycled.
