It’s really feeling like summer here in the Hamptons this week. Today is a great day for the pool. I won’t be getting in the pool today, but while searching through our fabric library for another interior design project, I came across this beautiful embroidered linen and cotton blend by Beacon Hill. The color name is pool and that’s what got me inspired for this blog post.

So, I thought I would share with you a grouping of different patterns an textures that would give a coastal vibe to any interior. You could pick and choose what you like based on whether you like a more casual home or if you’re looking for something more sophisticated.

The sophisticated linen and cotton blend with heavy embroidery would be a perfect texture for drapery panels and with the solid linen in off-white from Romo or the solid textured cotton from Thibaut in a color they call sky blue shown below for a sofa or any large piece of upholstery.

If you want to keep your interior casual, you could consider the stripe by C & C Milano. I love nubby texture of this 100% linen and think it would be great as a pillow on the sofa or as for a chair. You could also dress up the the upholstery with pillows in the fabric that inspired this post, Carnegie Hill: Pool. Below is a quick rendering of how the fabrics might work in a room. Cool hues to create a coastal look.
How would you use these fabrics? Do you have a favorite? I would love to know if you like the embroidery or do you find it too fussy for a coastal interior? For me it’s all about the color and the mixture of the textures.
If you’re somewhere warm today, I hope you get to jump in the pool!
Best,
Shannon
